Which operating systems support Wi-Free?
You need Windows XP/Vista/7, Linux (with 2.6 kernel) or Mac OS X (10.4 or later on Intel-based Mac) in order to use Wi-Free. Wi-Free requirements are minimal, so if your system is able to run one of these above operating systems, then it will be able to run Wi-Free.
Will Wi-Free work on my device?
It depends on your internet service provider (ISP) and your device. However, you can test the program before making a purchase. You can visit Wi-Free Download area and download Wi-Free to your device. Once installed, you are able to test connection speeds to all servers without paying for any vouchers, though you will only have access to our website.
To test speed, open program menu and click on "Speed Test". This option is available for Windows version of Wi-Free.
Do you have a version of Wi-Free for Android?
Currently, we don't have version for Android. We are planning to release that version in the very near future. When it becomes available, you will find it in the Wi-Free Download area.
Are iPhone, iPod or iPad versions of Wi-Free available?
No, we do not currently have iPhone, iPod or iPad versions.
Do you have speed limits?
We don’t. Network speed depends on your internet service provider only, and not on Wi-Free service. We use high-speed connection without speed limitations and without charging any extra fees for the amount of the data you transmit. With our service, you can download as much as you wish, as fast as your server allows!
If you’d like to test out connections speeds prior to payment, we offer free Guest Access everyone. This gives all users a free opportunity to test tunnel creation with different protocols and to test connection speeds by downloading a sample data file.
Is it possible to get full Wi-Free access for free?
Unfortunately, we no longer provide a full free trial. However, we do offer free Guest Access to all users who have not yet activated paid service. The Guest Access connection mode has the same connection quality as that of the paid service, except that it is only possible to connect to our website. This gives all users a free opportunity to test tunnel creation with different protocols and to test connection speeds by downloading a sample data file.
How can I create an account?
To start using Wi-Free you’ll need to complete a simple registration process and create your own login and password. You can do this securely on our website by the following link https://secure.wi-free.com/account/signup/
Alternatively, you can sign up using the Wi-Free program for Windows version. After download and installation of the program, click START, fill out the registration form, and click the Signup button.
Wi-Free will register you via one of the available protocols for your current connection (UDP, TCP, ICMP or DNS). You can register either through Wi-Fi or through more-traditional connection types (e.g. ASDL).
How can I purchase a voucher code? Which payment methods do you accept?
You can buy Wi-Free voucher codes directly from our company according to these listed prices.
We accept VISA, MasterCard credit cards as well as payments through the PayPal system.
If the payment methods above are not suitable for you, you can buy voucher codes from one of our authorized resellers.
Resellers may set their own prices on vouchers and may accept various payment methods including local systems.
I paid for your services, but I don't like the connection quality. May I request a refund?
Yes, you can cancel our services and request a refund without giving reasons within 24-48 hours (depending on voucher plan) from the time that your voucher code was activated.
Outside of this period, we ask that you contact us and explain your reasons for cancelling the service. Cancellations and refunds will be handled on an individual basis.
Can I share my account on more than one computer?
Of course! You’re free to use your account on any computer you’d like. However, you can only use your account on one computer at a time. If you try to connect when another computer is already connected by the same account, the latter will be disconnected and the new connection will be formed.
How do I change my password?
You can change your password by following this link https://secure.wi-free.com/account/profile/
Why doesn't my voucher work?
First, please check if you provide correct voucher code. Second, you must check if the code has already been applied to your account. You only have to enter your voucher code once, and there will be no action if you enter it anytime after it has already been used.
To use any voucher code, you should enter your account name and password in Preferences of the Wi-Free program.
If you have forgotten your password, you can restore it here: https://secure.wi-free.com/reminder.html
Do vouchers expire?
Only vouchers in the form of pre-purchased plastic cards have expiration or ‘use-before’ dates of 2 years. Electronic vouchers never expire so you can use them anytime in the future. Your purchased access time will only start to count down when you apply a voucher code to your account.
I have a connection problem. What should I do?
This problem can happen because of a variety of reasons. Here is list of the most common issues:
1) Check whether you are connected to a network. Wi-Free sends data using alternative protocols such as ICMP or DNS or default protocols such as UDP or TCP, but in all cases you must be connected to a network. You cannot use Wi-Free without a network connection.
2) Ensure that you are using latest version of Wi-Free and the latest servers list. You can update Wi-Free by clicking MENU -> Get Updates (for Windows version) or by downloading directly from our website for other operating systems in the Wi-Free Download area.
3) Sometimes firewalls and internet security tools harm or limit Wi-Free. Try deactivating them temporarily to see whether this helps.
4) Try a different protocol. Usually UDP is the best (if you can use it). ICMP and TCP also work well and should be your second choices. DNS protocol is rather slow and it is the last resort if the other protocols are not working.
5) It’s possible that Wi-Free does not work with the ISP (Internet Service Provider) you are trying to use. We do not guarantee that Wi-Free works with every ISP, though it does work with most. If all else fails, try accessing a network connection from a different place, using another hotspot or another ISP.
Which Wi-Free configuration settings are the best?
There is no definite answer to this question. Wi-Free tries to auto-detect as much as possible and its defaults are usually the best settings for most users. For first installation or default configuration just click the START button for auto-detection.
However, if you are an advanced user and wish to select your settings experimentally according to your own needs, pay the most attention to connection protocol and network options.
What does “tunnel subnetwork” do?
“Tunnel Subnetwork” allows you to select a virtual network to use with Wi-Free. It should not clash with other networks in your system, and that it is why we provide this option. Wi-Free auto-detects spare networks by default, so you should not change this option. It will not affect performance in any way.Why is my connection using DNS so slow?
DNS is very slow protocol and should be considered only a last resort. UDP/ICMP/TCP protocols usually are much faster than DNS. We recommend trying to find another ISP/hotspot which allows access via other, faster protocols.
Why do have I a WSA 10038 error and how do I fix it?
As a rule, a WSA 10038 error appears when the Windows sockets layer (Winsock) in your operating system is corrupted (stops working properly). Winsock can become corrupted due to incorrectly configured firewall, antivirus or other network-related software, or even because of traces from incorrectly removed software or malware.
We also warn our clients to beware of various "internet speed accelerators" promising to tune your network settings to increase network packet exchange speeds. In practice, these programs do change settings in such a way that standard protocols work a little faster, but they quite often break non-standard protocols. Since Wi-Free is able to use non-standard protocols for data transfer, they usually harm Wi-Free.
We would advise you to uninstall any software which may conflict with Wi-Free, and if Wi-Free then works correctly try to replace uninstalled software using alternative solutions (other similar programs). If Wi-Free will still not work correctly following software removal, try running the following command as an administrator in cmd.exe:
netsh winsock reset
You can easily open this program by typing cmd.exe in the Search field in your Windows menu. Also, you may find the following articles about fixing Winsock corruption from Microsoft Knowledge Base useful:

If none of the above options works to remedy your problem, we recommend re-installing the Windows operating system on your computer. This generally involves saving all files to your C:\ drive and then re-loading the operating system from your original Windows disc, as well as re-loading any programs you may use on your computer.
